Clara Coggins

Clara Estelle Dixon Coggins, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Chatham Health and Rehab in Chatham, VA. She was born in Alamance County on December 19, 1917 to the late Andrew Vance and Mary Susan Hill Dixon and was the wife of 68 years to the late William Shelton Coggins. Clara was a lifetime member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Methodist Women's Club and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed quilting and flower gardening. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Daniels and husband, Bill "Tinker" of Danville, VA; a son, Jeffrey Coggins and wife, Alice of Pinnacle, NC; granddaughters, Kim Daniels Shomali and Penny Daniels Hite and husband, Jimmy, both of Danville, VA; step grandson, Hugh Blair of Boynton Beach, FL; great grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Shomali, Christopher Daniel Shomali, Taylor Nichole Hite, William Spencer Hite and Nicholas Pete Blair and a sister, Fronnie D. Litten of Burlington. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents; brothers, Carl Dixon, Lonnie Dixon and Robert Dixon; sisters, Beulah Miller, Donnie Young, Alice Bookout, Geneva Thompson Caudle and Ruby Crutchfield. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Monday, November 26, 2012 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. William Budzinski with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the daughter, Judy's home at 555-A Parker Rd. in Danville, VA.
