Col. Ret.

Col. Harold Lee Johnson, Ret., age 66, of 3321 Osceola Rd., passed away at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem at 4:15 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2005. A native of Widen, WV, he was the son of the late Arthur H. and Anna Myrtle Hickman Johnson and husband of Naomi Bays Johnson who survives. Mr. Johnson served in the US Air Force and retired as a Colonel from the WV Air National Guard. He attended St. Marks Church and was a member of the Altamahaw-Ossipee Civitan Club. He was active in little league sports, coaching both football and baseball and was former President of the Dunbar W.V. Athletic Boosters. Survivors include his wife, Naomi Bays Johnson of the home; daughter, Jeanette Kowalski and husband David of Elon; daughter, Michelle Zaiser and husband Greg of Gibsonville; 5 grandchildren, Adam, Gavin, Philip, Noah, and Luke; siblings, Sue Loudermilk of Charleston, WV, David Johnson of Leavenworth, KS, Scott Johnson of Dunbar, WV, Nancy ONeal of Pontiac, MI, Judy Johnson of Charleston, WV, James Johnson of Dunbar, WV and Diane Holstein of Winfield, WV. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday December 23, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Otto H. Zaiser. Interment will be a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 1:45 PM Friday, prior to the service and again following the service.
