Gibsonville

Colen William Hedrick, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 4, 1944, in Guilford County, Colen was a devoted member of his community and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Colen's impressive career spanned decades of commitment and service. He dedicated over 40 years of his life to Stadler's Country Ham, retiring with a legacy of hard work and respect that resonated throughout the company. In addition, he served with unparalleled devotion as a firefighter and trainer for 53 years, always putting the safety and well-being of others above his own. His exceptional abilities extended beyond firefighting; alongside his son, he proudly owned and operated Hedrick and Son Construction, which was a testament to his strong work ethic and passion for building a better future.

Colen's generosity of spirit and love for his community were apparent in everything he did. He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Christian Church in Elon, where his presence and dedication touched many lives. He was known to be hardworking, highly respected, and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Colen cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Kay Hedrick; their children, Tracy Roof (Phil), Shannon Hedrick, and Matt Hedrick; grandchildren Madelyn Worthington (Chase), Kendall Hedrick (Jordan), Makenzie Cecero (Josh), Greysen Hedrick, and Reagan Hedrick; and great-grandchildren Tilly and Samuel Lamberth. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind his dear sisters, Rachel Burke (Billy) and Valetta Perkins (Paul), along with many nieces and nephews who fondly remember his warm spirit and generous heart.

Colen is preceded in death by his father, William Edward Hedrick; mother, Pauline Hackett Hedrick; and brother, C.O. Hedrick. Their memories will forever be cherished and lived on through Colen's enduring legacy.

As we reflect on his life, we remember Colen Hedrick not just for his remarkable career, but for the loving man he was—one who brought joy to the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
