Colleen Newsome

Colleen Melton Newsome, 83 of Burlington, NC, lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 25th 2009 at her daughter's home in Westerville OH. She was born in Salisbury, NC and was retired after 40 years of service as campaign director for the United Way of Alamance County. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Howard Newsome, parents Lois and Lonnie Melton of Salisbury, NC, sister Connie Green and brother Belvin Melton. Survivors include daughter Joy Debruler of Westerville, Oh and son Niles Newsome Sr. and wife Wanda of Myrtle Beach, SC. Granddaughters Melody Burr of Burlington, NC, Monica Blevins of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jennifer Scarlett of Hillsborough, NC, and grandsons Niles Newsome Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tommy Debruler of Burlington NC, as well as 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be officiated by Reverend Bob Disher at St. Mark's Church in Burlington, NC Monday March 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory Sunday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM and other times at the Newsome home 3769 Garden Rd. in Burlington.
