Coy Briggs

Coy Odell Briggs, 83, of Graham passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, July 11, 2011 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. He was born in Person County to the late Samuel Noah Briggs and Edna Wilborn Briggs and was married to the late Dollie Ruth Rice Briggs. Coy was a loyal and dedicated employee of Burlington Industries for 45 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Graham. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Briggs Burton and her husband Jack of Burlington; grandsons, Nathan Burton and his wife Lindsey of Gibsonville, and Jeremy Burton of Burlington; great granddaughter, Gracie "Briggs" Burton; nieces and nephews, Rosalie Craine of Greensboro, Bud Shields of Burlington, Thomasine Reichel of Reidsville, Nancy Wyrick of Greensboro and Linda Hobson of Whitsett; and special friends, Tony Siceloff and Ruby Speas. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, Samuel H. Briggs and sisters, Martha Briggs Shields and Rena Briggs. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 14, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Graham by Rev. Jim Wall and Rev. Chris Phelps with interment to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his daughter's home, Susan Burton, 3332 Ardmore St., Burlington. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the nurses and staff of Moses Cone Neuro Intensive Care Unit.
