Curtis Wayne Smith, 71, of Tickle Rd. passed away Wednesday December 5, 2012 at the Hospice Home following months of failing health. He was the husband of Carole Hackett Smith and was born October 6, 1941 in Guilford County to the late Howard T. and Mary Scott Smith. Curtis was a farmer and green house operator in the community for many years. He had served on the Board of Directors of the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years of the home, sons, Claude Smith and his wife Tamara, Craven Smith and his wife Kimberley all of Gibsonville, his grandchildren Camron Smith, Collin Smith, Cooper Smith, Conner Smith and his brother Rodney R. Smith and his wife Janice of Browns Summit. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Vernon, brothers, Charles Smith and Mason Smith. The graveside service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Apple's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery by Pastor Allen Myers III. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
