Daniel Edward Todd, Jr.

January 14, 1943 — February 5, 2023

Elon-Daniel Edward Todd, 80, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Duke University Medical Center after several months of failing health. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 20 years to Mourine Odongo Todd who survives.

Daniel retired after 45 years with the US Postal service; he was the postmaster for 20 years in Glen Raven, a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Air Force, a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Dan loved travelling exploring other cultures, he always said, he joined the military because he wanted to see what was beyond the ocean. He was passionate about gardening, cooking, sports (great NASCAR fan) and an avid reader, he was articulate, held the position of President for the American Postal workers for numerous years, received Airman of the Month-February 1966, volunteered and assisted teachers during school trips, always represented some neighbors at their children’s games when they were not able to, due to work or other commitments. He was very involved in church activities until when his health could not permit. Enjoyed music and was a choir member during his earlier years. The most important thing in his life was family, he took family very seriously. Any family member could always call on him and he was graceful about it, he spoiled his daughter Caitlyn with so much love. He was always the life of the party at family events.

Dan is survived by his wife, Mourine Odongo Todd of the home; sons, Daniel E. Todd, III and wife, Lisa of Vero Beach, Florida, Brandon Lee Todd and wife, Traci of Raleigh  NC, David R. May of Mebane NC, and daughter, Caitlyn Todd of the home; grandchildren, Allison Todd Thurn, Austin Todd, Tara May, Colby May, Logan Todd and Cameron Todd; great grandchildren, Will, Claire, James and Eleanor.; sister, Cheryl Norris of Thomasville. Uncle to Arnold Okoki and others, brother-in-law to Edith Odongo Okoki and Milly Odongo Lwanga both of Kenya and members of the greater Ombajo family.  Son in law to Mark Odongo Ombajo and Joyce Odongo both of Kenya. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Edward Todd, Sr., and Norma Lee Farlow Todd.
