Danny Morris Horton

Burlington-Danny Horton, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Ellis Raymond Horton, Sr. and Mary Louise Hudson Horton.

Danny retired after 20 years from Walter Kiddie. He was a 1979 graduate of Cummings High School and received an associate degree in 2018 from ACC in Criminology. Danny was Member of the North Carolina Wing of the Civil Air Patrol in Burlington, where he served as the Historian. He was a member of the NC Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a member of the Charles F. Fisher SCV Camp # 813 where he served as the Quartermaster and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Danny was an avid reader of history and enjoyed sharing his love for history with his friends and family. Danny called people he knew as “Little Buddy”, he was not only a man of large stature but had a heart to match. He was selfless in caring for his family and friends and had a gentle nature and positive attitude.

Survivors include his brother Randy Wade Horton and his sister, Cindy Kay Lassiter and husband, Tommy of Burlington; his nieces and nephews Jessica Crawford, Ashley Lassiter, Josh Lassiter, Matthew Horton, Lauren Horton, Justin Horton and Zachary Horton; great nieces and nephews, Natalie Baken, Hannah Baken, Madison Baken, Adalynn Lassiter and Nicolas Lassiter; Danny’s canine companion, “Shasha”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond Ellis Horton, Jr.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4PM on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
