Danny Ray Stewart

Danny Ray Stewart, 66 passed on Friday, June 5, 2026 at UNC Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Alamance County to the late Daniel David and Violet Mae Ward Stewart.

Danny was a loving father, Pawpaw, son, brother, and friend. He took great pride in his daughter, Kelly, and his grandchildren, Zoey, Chase, and Zane, who were the light of his life. Family meant everything to Danny, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved.

A graduate of Western Alamance High School, Danny went on to build a career he was proud of at Lowe’s Home Improvement. He retired after many years of dedicated service and often spoke fondly of the friendships he made there. His coworkers were more than colleagues—they were his work family, and he deeply valued the relationships he built throughout his career.

Danny was a devoted Christian who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Throughout life’s joys and challenges, he remained steadfast in his faith and found comfort in God’s promises. No matter the circumstances, Danny often reminded those around him that everything was in God’s hands. His unwavering trust in the Lord was an inspiration to his family and friends and provided him strength, peace, and hope throughout his life.

His faith was also expressed through music. For many years, Danny served as the bass player for Called Out Ministries, a role he greatly enjoyed. He loved playing bass guitar and found joy in using his musical talents to worship and serve the Lord.

Danny will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and love of the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found joy in nature and in sharing those experiences with family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and never met a stranger.

The love, laughter, faith, music, and memories Danny shared with those around him will be treasured forever. While he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Danny is survived by his daughter, Kelly Dickerson and husband, Brandon of Elon; grandchildren, Zoey Taylor, Chase Taylor and Zane Dickerson; sister, Torri Lambert of Burlington; brothers, Mike Stewart and wife, Renee of Burlington, Robbie Stewart and wife, Debra of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tracy Stewart and wife, Dawn of Hillsborough; a special friend, Edna May of Liberty; several nieces and one nephew and his pet duck named “Buddy”.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Kelly where the family and friends are welcome to visit and share memories. There will be a service to celebrate Danny’s life at a later date.
