David "Pat" Eugene Dixon

David “Pat” Eugene Dixon, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Alamance County to the late Lonnie Vance and Hazel Dell Wilson Dixon and was married for 68 years to Georgia Wilson Dixon who survives.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for many years and retired at the age of 82 from Industrial Paper Products.  David was an avid woodworker and loved spending time setting up his exact replica of his hometown, Glencoe Mills, which he built himself and displayed with such pride.  For many years, during the holidays, he would set this village up in his yard, train and all, for his grandchildren, friends, and neighbors to enjoy.   David was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he earned three Purple Hearts and various other medals.

He is survived by his wife Georgia; daughters, Debbie Porch (Chuck); Cindy Smith (Ragsdale); Cathy Gerner (John); and son, Michael Dixon (Reneé); grandchildren Jennifer Shingleton, Justin Gerner and Forrest Smith; and great grandchildren Hannah, Christopher, Ayden, Ryder and Raston Kate; and one surviving brother, Willie Dixon of Melbourne, Fla.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roger, Bobby, Donald, and Walter.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 12:00 Noon Friday, May 20, 2022, at Alamance Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Randy Hobbs.  The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.

The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to all the nurses and staff at AuthoraCare (Hospice) and request memorials be made to AuthoraCare Collective, 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
