David Shambley

David E. "Joe" Shambley, age 76, of 1412 Tarleton Ave., died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Alfred Green Shambley, Sr. and the late Pearl Bailiff Shambley and was married for over 54 years to Mrs. Georgia Pyrant Shambley, who survives. Joe retired From Copeland Fabrics after many years of employment. Mr. Shambley is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Patricia Massey and her husband, Melvin, of Elon and Renee Workman of Burlington; a son, Ronald Shambley and his wife, Lori, of Reidsville; six grandchildren, Chad Massey, Kristy Machacek and her husband, Michael, Ashley Workman, Brittany Long, Briana Shambley and Taylor Shambley; two step grandchildren, Matthew and Madeline Machacek; and a sister Elsie Shambley Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Jasper "Red" Shambley, Paul Selottes Shambley, Walter Lee Shambley, Alfred Green Shambley, Jr., Winfred Shambley and Thomas Gordon Shambley, Sr.; two sisters, Violet Shambley and Peggy Roney; and a half sister, Margaret Shambley Moize. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, October 30, 2009 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Olin Tatum. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
