David Hall

Burlington, NC David Doc Leroy Hall, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Ralph Lee Hall and Bessie Steel Hall. David was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving as a Gunny Sergeant in the Korean Conflict where he received 2 purple hearts while in combat. He received numerous decorations for meritorious service and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a son, Derrick Wood of Burlington; grandson, David Wood of Burlington; sister, Emma Jean Faulkner and her husband, Jim of Burlington; brothers, Richard Hall of Burlington, Ed Hall and his wife, Mary of Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Helen Hall, Esther Jean Sykes, Nell Petry, Vivian Straughan and Ella Rae Hall; brothers, Ralph Hall, Jr., Thomas Hall, Luke Hall, Bill Hall, Ralph Pete Hall and Abe Hall. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. by Rev. Dr. James L. Hall at the residence, 154 Hollars Street, Haw River, NC, 27258.
