Deward Smith, Jr.

Whitsett Deward Allen Smith, Jr., 64, passed away at his home Sunday, December 26, 2010. He was married for 39 years to Dorothy Smith who survives. He was born in Drift, KY September 10, 1946 to the late Deward Allen and Eloise Webb Smith, Sr. Allen grew up in West Virginia, but later moved to New Jersey where he graduated at Kean University. He worked as a machinist for over 20 years at Wallace and Tiernan then at New Brunswick Scientific for 7 years. Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Kevin J. Powers and his wife Delores; a brother, Lloyd Smith and a sister, Gayle Primo. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Smith and a sister, Lorraine Moon. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Father Paul Gabriel, O.F.M. Conv. with burial to follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 PM Wednesday.
