Dolores Hayes Fogleman, 89, peacefully passed away at her home on October 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 27, 1936, in Alamance County, North Carolina, Dolores left an enduring mark on the lives of those who had the privilege to know her.
Dolores devoted a significant part of her life to her career as a phlebotomist at the local county hospital, where her compassion and skill made a lasting impact on her patients. Her work was not just a profession; it was a testament to her nurturing spirit and desire to help others.
Outside of her career, Dolores cherished the simple joys of life. She found solace in needlework and sewing, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and care. The beach held a special place in her heart—her happy place—she enjoyed with her family. Fishing with her son-in-law added to her list of cherished memories, moments spent in laughter and companionship. Reading was another passion, as she often immersed herself in the pages of a good book.
Dolores was cherished by her family. She is survived by her son, Mark Fogleman and his wife, Nanette; her daughter, Lisa F. Sutton and her husband, Chris. Her grandchildren, Matthew Sutton and his wife, Katie, Katherine Sutton, Alexander Fogleman and his wife, Michele, Landon Fogleman, and Kaitlyn Fogleman, filled her life with joy and pride. Dolores was also a great-grandmother to Orlah Sutton, Fergus Sutton, and Millie Fogleman and she shared a close bond with her sister, Phyliss Warren, and her husband, Earnest.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William "Bill" Albert Fogleman, whose love and partnership were the backbone of her life, and her parents, William Dudley Hayes and Fannie Jane Bryant Hayes, who instilled in her the values of kindness and resilience.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice whose compassionate care has helped the family. A special thank you to Gala, Cookie and Shelia.
The family will have a private ceremony at a later date.
