Mr. Don Wayne Scott, Sr., 81, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 4, 2026 at Hospice Home of Alamance in Burlington following a period of declining health and several chronic medical issues.
A lifelong resident of the Burlington area, he dedicated 41 years to Alamance Regional Medical Center, serving in various roles before retiring as Director of Facility Services. Known for his reliability and practical problem-solving, he could be counted on to find a solution to nearly any challenge.
He was a charter member of Harvest Baptist Church in Burlington, where he remained a faithful member for many years. His faith and family were central to his life.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, being around the water, and spending time with family. A skilled craftsman, he took pride in working with wood, metal, and other materials, often creating or repairing whatever was needed. His family will remember his ingenuity, humor, faith, and devotion, as well as the many ways he shared his time and talents with those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Julian Scott and mother, Minnie Clara Martin Robertson; son, Alton Smith; brother, Eldridge Scott Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Yvette Scott; children, Wayne Scott Jr.( Amy), Randy Ellington (Christy), Lauren Schools, Avery Montgomery (Carolina), Ian Montgomery (Caitlin), and Hillary Montgomery (Mike); sister, Connie Hall (George), and brother, Julian Robertson (Patricia), 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, 5 nieces, and one nephew, extended family members, and dear friends, and his beloved cat Ariel.
The family sincerely appreciates the staff of Hospice Home of Alamance, and Cone Health of Alamance Regional units 1A and 1C, and all who provided care, comfort, prayers, and support during his final days.
A gathering will be held 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Lowe Funeral home Burlington, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AuthoraCare, Burlington or Harvest Baptist Church in his memory.
His family and friends will carry forward the memories of his faith, generosity, practical wisdom, and the many lives he touched. Don will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
