Donald Whitney Chester, Sr.

Donald retired as a pastor of over 40 years.  He was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church and later became a member of Burlington Assembly of God where he served in many capacities.  He was a US Navy veteran working mostly in aviation control towers.  Donald enjoyed woodworking and was highly skilled at furniture restoration.  He also enjoyed classic cars, tractors and military planes.

Survivors include his sons, Donny Chester, Jr., Mark Chester, Jon Chester (Beverly); daughters, Donna Hyler (Danny), Jennifer Mason (Ywan); grandchildren, Chris Chester, Jasmin Chester, Samantha McCraw (Micheal), Nicholas Hyler, McKenzie Jacks and great grandchildren, Lilly, Lauran, Madison, Micheal, Jr., Danny McCraw, Noah Chester, Sienna Jacks and brother, Herb Frye (Carol) and other extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; brother, Robert Chester and a sister, Dorothy Montgomery.

A service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Burlington Assembly of God by Pastor Bryan Rainbow.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  A burial with military honors will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery on Thursday.
