Donald Cowan

Donald Thomas Cowan, 90, formerly of Von Bora Ct. passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary Joan Luthy Cowan and was born April 10, 1921 in East Cleveland, OH to the late James and Marion Ethel Wickham Cowan. He had served in the Army Air Corps during WW II and was a member of Masonic Lodge 316 in Kent, OH for sixty years. Donald was a member of Front Street U.M.C., and had retired as the Vice-President of Manufacturing for Ametek after forty-five years of service. Since his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing golf and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, daughters; Cindy Becken, Lynn Stas and her husband Robert all of Burlington, grandchildren; Rachel Stas and Rob Stas. He was preceded by his parents and two sisters Ruth and June. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Marshall Old. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:30 1:45 Wednesday prior to the service and at other times at the home of Lynn Stas, 5122 NC Hwy 62 South.
