Donnie Ray Jordan, age 52, of McBane Mill Road passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at UNC Hospital. He was a native of Chesterfield County, South Carolina and the husband of Donna Chandler Jordan having been together for over 25 years. Donnie was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was an active member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp # 813 and also enjoyed reenacting at living history events. He and his wife participated together in supporting the camp at living history programs in our community. Donnie was proud of his southern heritage and the true history of the Confederacy. Survivors include his wife, Donna Chandler Jordan of the home; son, Justin Ray Jordan of Graham; sister, Myrtis Burr and her husband, Sonny of Chesterfield, South Carolina; brother, Eugene Jordan of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and his faithful dog, "Bud Man". He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Franklin and Rosa Parrish Johnson Jordan. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Stacy Hall & Rev. Stephan Hall. The family will receive friends from 12:15 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home. SCV Camp # 813 members are being asked to serve as honorary pallbearers for the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family of Donnie Jordan, 7438 McBane Mill Road, Graham, NC 27253.
