Doris Helene White

Doris Helene White, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late Robert Gordon White and the late Minnie Bosland White.

Doris graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, NY. She retired from Lucent Technologies. Doris had a passion for music and was a member of the Alamance Chorale and the choir at Grove Park Baptist Church where she was a faithful and loyal member for over 40 years, serving in various roles including Sunday school teacher for 3rd and 4th graders, nursery worker, afterschool daycare worker, respite volunteer and church librarian. 

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Diane Lasher, Carol Carpluk, Robert White and his wife Carroll, David White and his wife Jeanne; niece-in-law, Deborah White; several great nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family, loving church members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert White and his wife Agnes; nephew, John White; and nephews-in-law, Foster Lasher and Douglas Carpluk.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Marc Sanders and Dr. Gene Hunsinger with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:15-1:45 Wednesday afternoon prior to the service at the church.
