Douglas Morris Qualls

     Douglas Morris Qualls, 85, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  A native of Alamance County, he was born August 4, 1937 to the late Herbert Bouie and Gracie Lowe Qualls.  He was the proud husband to Delores Neely Qualls for 62 years.

     Doug was a US Army Veteran, longtime member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church and most recently a member of Cross Generations Church.  He made a career as a Picker, searching for the antiques and collectibles he loved so much and selling them at auction, primarily the Mebane Antique Auction Gallery.  Doug enjoyed playing golf, pool and had a love for classic cars.  Over the years, he owned several classic Fords, a Model-A, a Model-T and a ’56 Thunderbird convertible.  He was also known for his sense of humor, frequent pranks and telling jokes.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

     He is survived by his wife, Delores; daughter, Sherry Dekker and her husband John; grandson, Dylan Dekker and his wife Kathryn; sister, Becky Holt and her husband Robert; nephew, Scott Allison and his partner Debbie; niece, Diane Rahimtoola and her husband Sharif; nephew, John Qualls and his fiancé Trina; great nieces, Becca Rose Rahimtoola and Kayden Qualls.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Qualls.

     The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Grinnell.  Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:45 - 10:45 AM Saturday prior to the service.
