Dr. Jo Ann Ellis Sherron, 71, of the Twin Lakes Retirement Community passed away Tuesday, May, 24, 2011 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the wife of the late Dr. Ronald H. Sherron. She was born on March 11, 1940 in Wilson, NC to the late Robert and Margaret Ellis. She was the past Dean of the School of Business at the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, VA. Dr. Sherron was passionate about her career as an educator and was deeply admired by her students and colleagues. She was also a founding member of the Women's Bank, which began in Richmond. Jo Ann loved life and lived to the fullest, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her youngest daughter LeAnn Sherron Boone and her husband Brian of Gainesville, FL; Ronald H. Sherron of Raleigh, NC; Sherry Sherron of Farmville, VA; Pamela Sherron Targett of Richmond, VA; Allison P. Schmidt and husband Michael of Chesapeake, VA; Andy E. Sherron of Goldsboro, NC; a sister Judy Tinkey of Greensboro, NC; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There will a celebration of her life 2:00 PM Thursday, May 26th, in the Chapel of Twin Lakes located at 100 Wade Coble Dr. in Burlington, NC. A reception will follow in the Terrace at Twin Lakes.
