Edgar Franklin Stutts, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Guilford County, he was born August 23, 1929 to the late James Walter and Annie Cook Stutts and was the husband of 56 years to Sarah Frances Huffines Stutts of the home.
Edgar proudly served in the US Army before embarking on a successful career as a self-employed contractor and was known for his hard work ethic. When not busy with his tools, he enjoyed relaxing in front of the television, where he could often be found watching wrestling, baseball, soap operas, or the suspenseful CSI Miami.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; daughters, Bernice Newsome and husband Michael, Deborah Lynn Morene and Carolyn Frances Morene; grandchildren, Christopher Henry Newsome and wife Elizabeth, Ashley Nicole Newsome and husband Joe and his great grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth Newsome and Henry Pierce Newsome. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald “Donnie” Ray Morene; sisters, Grace Hensley, Mozelle Murray and Margaret Norton and brothers, James Stutts and Hassell Stutts.
A service to celebrate Edgar’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reid Dickens with the burial to follow at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at Mebane Ridge Assisted Living.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
