Gibsonville - Elijah "Buddy" Junior Evans, 75, a native of Altamahaw; went to be with the Lord at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday December 16, 2018 at 2:20PM. He was born May 16, 1943 to the late Jessie and Gladys Evans, and was the husband of 49 years to Judy Evans.
Buddy Evans was a true believer of the Lord, and a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church. He retired from Elon University after 41 years of working in their maintenance department. After retiring he went back to work at Elon, part time as a Tram driver. He enjoyed spending any free time fishing, bowling, being with family and pulling for his favorite sports teams, the Carolina Tarheels and the Carolina Panthers.
Buddy is survived by his wife Judy, Sons; Paul Hooker and wife Kay, Lee Hooker, daughter; Debbie Hooker, Grandchildren; Pasquale Esposito (Paul Hooker, Jr.), Alec Brienzi, Jasmyn Perry (Tabatha Hooker), Tia Dee Hooker, Carissa Rhew, Makayla Wright and Jordan Bruce, Sisters; Maria Fuller, Nannie Newell, Mary Putnam and Gladys Geneva King. He is preceded in death by, sisters; Ollie Mae Evans and Evelyn Evans Hayden, son; Perry Hooker, daughter-in-law; Anita S. Hooker and grandson; Brandon Crochet.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday December 21, 2018 in the Mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. Steve Tucker, with a visitation from 12:00 - 1:30 prior at Lowe Funeral Home.
