Elizabeth “Lib” Rudd, 80 years old, went to her heavenly home on Monday, July 22 with her husband Linwood by her side. She had been in the hospital for several weeks and daughter Lisa and her husband from Florida were here and with her every day.
Lib was born on November 22, 1943 in Alamance County to the late Oby and Mozelle Shanklin Hoggard and was married to Linwood Lee Rudd for 61 years who survives her. Lib is survived by her daughter, Lisa Rudd Hudson and her husband Jeff Hudson who live in Daytona Beach, FL; nieces, Annette Rose (Sammy) and Michelle Davis (Niven); nephews, Frankie Hoggard (Kim) and David Riggs (Wynenda); several great nieces and great nephews; sisters-in-law, Marie Rudd Riggs and Cindy Rudd; and her special longtime friends, Polly Husky, Linda Fogleman, Nancy McCauley and Sandra Allred. Lib was preceded in death by her parents, Oby and Mozelle Hoggard; and her brother, Frank Hoggard and his wife Carolyn; her in-laws, Lawrence and Edna Rudd; and her brother-in-law, Harold Lane Rudd.
She graduated from Williams High School where she met her husband to be Linwood Rudd. Lib was loved by everyone, and she loved everyone! She would start a conversation with anyone and she was very genuine and sweet. Lib had such a big loving heart! She enjoyed working at Olan Mills studios as a portrait taker in the late 80’s. Her mother Mozelle was the sales manager and Lib took the portraits. They loved working together and meeting so many local people.
Lib loved decorating for all the holidays! She enjoyed baking and taking food to friends and those in need. One of her specialties was banana pudding (warm, not cold), red velvet cakes, coconut pie and chocolate pie. She loved playing the card game “Rook” with her family and friends in past years before her illness. Friends and family would come to her house and play the game and eat snacks for hours. Another one of her favorite things to do was shopping with her daughter. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter and her husband Linwood. They enjoyed many trips together to Florida, Disney World, NY City, Las Vegas and went on many cruises. Lisa was a flight attendant and she loved to travel with her on her layovers all over the country. They had a very special mother-daughter bond and talked many times a day on the phone.
In the past years, Lib and Linwood formerly attended Andrews Baptist Church, Baptist Temple and People’s Memorial Christian Church. She loved her Lord Jesus; she enjoyed watching gospel music videos for several hours a day and loved singing along to her favorite gospel songs.
