Elizabeth “Bette” McDonald Ward, 93, of Burlington, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at her residence.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Bette was the daughter of the late John Angus McDonald and Edna Marie Boehm McDonald, and was married for 65 years to the late Donald P. Ward.
Bette was a member of St. Luke’s Community Church and currently attended St. Paul’s Community Church where she enjoyed singing in the choirs. She also enjoyed singing in community choirs, making quilts, watching birds and butterflies and going bowling with her husband, Don. Bette was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Catherine “Cathie” W. Denney (Howard), Patty W. Roehrs (Tab), Raymond E. Ward; grandchildren, Donny, Beth, Aaron, Jennifer, Chris, John, Carly and Richard; fifteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don; daughter, Donna W. Cornatzer and her husband, Allen; two sisters and a brother.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 16, 2026 at St. Luke’s Community Church by Rev. Jeff Chewning and Rev. Tommy Privette. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Monday prior to the service at the church. There will be a private family graveside service.
