Elver Apple

Elver Whitt Apple, age 76, of 6534 Pagetown Rd., passed away at 5:30 pm Tuesday January 3, 2006 at his home. A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late William Earley and Hattie Mae Payne Apple and husband of Hazel Barker Apple who survives. He had formerly worked for Burlington Industries, House Finishing Division, was a prominent farmer in the Stoney Creek Community and was a former member of the Leasburg Hunt Club. Mr. Apple is survived by his wife, Hazel Barker Apple of the home; 2 sons, Jerry Ray Apple and wife Jean of Burlington and Kim Dale Apple and wife Brenda of Elon; grandchildren, Craig Apple and wife Chris, Brian Apple and fiance Christy, Valerie Apple and Brandon Apple; great granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Apple; sister, Lula A. Cobb of Burlington; 2 nieces and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jack Apple, Wilbert Apple, Elton Apple and Milton Apple; sisters, Pauline Apple, Mildred Ingle and Florence Cheek. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at the Stony Creek Presbyterian Church by Rev. Ken Hickey. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Apple will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm Thursday, at other times at the residence.
