Ernest Beckom

Ernest Curtis Beckom, 73, of Burch Bridge Rd. passed away Sunday August 13, 2006 at D&M Family Care following several years of declining health. He was the husband of Margaret Sykes Beckom and the son of the late Ernest and Bertha Ross Beckom. Ernest was a native of Alamance County, retired from Culp Weaving and was a member of Lowe Memorial Baptist Church. He also served in the US Air Force. Survivors include his wife Margaret Sykes Beckom of the home; a stepson Edward Ed Weeks and his wife Laura of Greenville, SC; sisters, Frances Kellam and her husband Marvin of Burlington, Mary Ruth Durham and her husband Alton of Greenville, SC; a brother Benjamin Beckom and his wife Jane of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Irene Andrews and a brother Ross Beckom. The graveside service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Bill Gindlesperger. The family will receive friends 10-10:45 AM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home of a sister-in-law Carolyn Powell, 703 Chancery St., Elon, NC.
