Ernest C. White, Jr.

Ernest C. White, Jr., 89, passed away on January 1, 2023 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. 

     He was born in Guilford County on October 30, 1933 to the late Ernest C. White, Sr. and Mamie H. White and was married for 58 years to the late Jackie Binkley White who passed away in 2014.  Ernest was a 21 year veteran, serving 4 years in the Marines and 17 years in the Air Force which included one tour in Vietnam and he retired as a Master Sergeant.  He was the recipient of several medals including the Bronze Star.  He continued to serve his country and community through his employment with Civil Services from 1974 until he retired again in 1999 and also was an active member of the W.D. Hammer VFW Post 2972 for several years which at one point he served as the Service Officer and wrote articles ‘For Veterans’ that were published in the Rock Creek Record.

     He is survived by his daughter, Tracye White Hall and husband, Dana; daughter-in-law, Melinda Hudson White; his five grandchildren, Ben Stewart, Christopher White, Nick (Lauren) Stewart, Samantha (Brandon) Magdarz and A.J. White; three great-grandchildren, Mya Magdarz; Lawson and Norah Stewart; a sister, Dorothy (Larry) Hughes; and numerous nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; a son, Ernest “Ernie” White III; his parents; and three sisters, Louise Noah, Mary Lashley and Mae Riley.

     A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Low’s Lutheran Church by Rev. John Mark Beam.  Following the service, everyone is invited to the Fellowship Hall to greet the family and have refreshments.
