Mrs. Esquiredo Skeeter Cates Faucette Myers of Springwood Ave., passed away Thursday December 8, 2005 at Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Skeeter has requested no visitation or funeral service. Her family is having a memorial service which will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity, Christian Athletes of N.C State., or Girl Scouts of America. In 1943 she married H.N. Faucette and in 1966 married Denzel R. Myers who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Ms. Gerry Hampton of Greensboro; grandson, Rodney Hampton of Grand Rapids, Michigan; granddaughter, Christa Benton and husband Aaron of Browns Summit; her darling great granddaughter, Savannah Benton of Browns Summit; sisters, Louise Farrior of Burliington, Joan Thompson and husband Ralph of Gibsonville, Linda Mann of Gibsonville and Deborah Boone and husband Mike of Oak Ridge; brothers, Winfred Cates of Welcome and Don Cates of Burlington. Skeeter loved her sports starting with winning a marble championship in Gibsonville at age 12 and kept on winning all the boys marbles. She excelled in all sports, playing softball in world championship tournaments and playing semi-pro for a few years. She won a cross country motorcycle tour for women. In bowling, she bowled two games of 298, one of which was in a W.I.B.C. tournament, the other in league play and was the first woman to bowl an actual 600 series or better. She bowled in a traveling league and on T.V. She was a huge fan of N.C. State Womens Basketball Coach Kay Yow and her teams, going to many out of town games and functions since 1981. Mrs. Myers and her family wanted to thank her doctors, Dr. and Mrs. Preston Clark, Dr. Gamble, all his P.A.s and all her care givers of Moses Cone Hospital for their loving care of her many health problems. Special thanks is also extended to Chief Clarence Owen and the Gibsonville Fire Dept.. She fought a hard battle. Condolences may be sent to the family at info@lowefuneralhome.com
