Mrs. Estelle Loy Woodburn Dunn, 93, a lifelong resident of the Gibsonville area and most recently of the Jefferson Care Home, joined the eternal Kingdom of God on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health. A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late William James Madison Woodburn and the late Mary Elizabeth Matkins Woodburn and was married to the late William Taft Dunn who died in 1990. Mrs. Dunn was a homemaker and proud mother of six children and retired from Cone Mills and Firzell Fabrics and was a member of Gibsonville Church of God. She was an avid gardner and enjoyed writing. Mrs. Dunn is survived by five daughters, Mary Sue Miller of Oak Island, Betty Lou Phelps of Augusta, GA, Patricia Louise Forbradg of Aloha, OR, Elizabeth Ann Walker of Burlington, and Lottie Jewel Davis of Burlington; a son, James Edward Jim Dunn of Gibsonville; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Jackie Chrismon of Apex. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four sisters, Irene Englebright, Violet Younger, Rebecca Logston, and Fleta Hester; and four brothers, Thomas Woodburn, Richard Woodburn, Raymond Woodburn, and William Woodburn. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Gibsonville City Cemetery by the Rev. Clarence Clough. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her son, Jim Dunn, 613 Springwood Ave., Gibsonville.
