Esther Fisher Huyck, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Born on June 20, 1930, in Grafton, West Virginia, to the late Samuel Fisher and Popi Banezalea Fisher. Proud of her Greek heritage, Esther often reflected on the journey of her parents, who emigrated to this country, instilling in her a strong sense of identity and tradition.
Esther dedicated much of her life to the restaurant industry while living in Fairfield County, Connecticut, where she shared her warm spirit as a waitress, being a familiar face to many until her retirement at the age of 70 from Cobbs Mill Inn in Weston, Connecticut. Her passions included indulging in manicures, losing herself in the pages of a good book, swimming at the beach, baking Greek pastries and nurturing her garden. Esther found joy in the simplicity of life, especially when surrounded by her two daughters. In 2013, she relocated to North Carolina to be closer to her “girls.”
She is survived by her loving daughters, Marilyn Huyck-Kuehn and her husband Kristopher P. Kuehn, and Cheryl Huyck and her husband Frank DiGilleonardo. Esther is now reunited with her beloved parents, her husband Robert W. “Bob” Huyck, who predeceased her in June 2000, and her siblings Christina “Tina” Fisher and Gus Fisher.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date to celebrate Esther's remarkable life. In the meantime, condolences can be shared on www.lowefuneralhome.com.
Though Esther may have departed from this world, her love and light will continue to illuminate the lives she touched.
