Floyd Batten

Floyd Freeman Batten, died November 14, 2008 after a long battle with ALS aka Lou Gehrig's disease. He was born in 1939 to the late William F. and Lois M. Batten of Burlington. Survivors are son, Floyd Freeman Batten, II and wife Marie of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Valerie Arena and husband Mike of Clarksville, GA; sister, Mary B. Davis of Burlington and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers. He attended Elon College Public School and graduated from Williams High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home in Sarasota, FL. It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Lou Gehrig Disease Assoc. of Southwest Florida, Inc., P.O. Box 11104, Sarasota, FL 24278.
