Gibsonville, NC Floyd Samuel "Sam" Edmonds, age 86, of McIntyre Road went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. He was a native of Surry County and the husband of 68 years to Nellie Hanner Edmonds who survives. Floyd was a retired farmer and attended McLeansville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving in WW II. He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Tommy Aheron of Gibsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cathy Edmonds of McLeansville and James and Kathleen Edmonds of Rochester, Massachusetts; daughter-in-law, Sue Edmonds of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Julie Wall Rick of Providence, Rhode Island, Kim Vincent of Greensboro, Jeff Edmonds of Altanta, Ga., Cheryl Lemonds Todd of Troy, Kelly Ferguson Tom of Gibsonville, Melissa Kruepe Andy High Point, Jennifer Foster Jeremy of Burlington, Ronald Robinson Penny Gibsonville, Danike Sharek of Rochester, Mass and Dillion Sharek of Charleston, SC; fifteen great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Hazel Edmonds of Whitsett. He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Edmonds, parents, Joseph Roscoe and Johanna Snow Edmonds; three brothers and five sisters. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jack Lemons and Rev. Nila Souther and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
