Francis Burns

Mr. Francis Burns, age 89, of Gibsonville, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at his residence after several months of failing health.

Born in Massachusetts, he was a retired U.S. Army Veteran with over 21 years of service and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was an Army Ranger and a Green Beret, receiving several medals including the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.  Francis was a longtime member of the V.F.W. Post 1067 located in Burlington and was an avid golfer.

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife of the home, Flor Guerrero Burns; four children, Kevin Burns, Robert Burns, Katherine Burns and Marcos Burns; a step son, Luis (Sarah) Maravilla; and a step granddaughter, Catalina Maravilla.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Chaplin Scott Lewis.  Mr. Burns cremains will be buried at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
