Frieda Hodges King

Frieda Sue Hodges King, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2022 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County after a couple of months of failing health.  She was born on November 25, 1931 in Columbus County, NC to the late Ira James Hodges and Georgia Buffkin Hodges.  Frieda was married to the love of her life, James Edwin "Ed" King, Jr. for 65 years and 11 months when he died in 2014.

Frieda retired after 32 years with the Alamance County Social Services and was a member of Beacon Baptist Church.  She loved being around her family and friend’s.

She is survived by her son, John “Mike” Michael King; grandsons, James Edwin King IV, Josh Emory King and Christopher Scott King; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a sister, Rita Hodges Allen; nieces, Margaret King and Barbara King; nephews, Steve Lewis, David Bergeman and Brad Bergeman; and her cousin, Virginia Vincent.

Frieda was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Edwin "Ed" King, Jr.; a son, James Edwin King III; grandson, Marcus Edwin King; her parents; a sister, Linda Hodges Thompson; and her daughter-in-law, Jane Deal King.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, March 18, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Robert LaTour. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45pm Friday prior to the service.  The burial at Alamance Memorial Park will be private for family only.
