Gary Brian Johnson

Gary Brian Johnson, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Aurora, Illinois on July 24, 1944 to the late Paul Gerhart Johnson and Viola Francis Keck and was the husband of 44 years to Lois J. Eichenberg Johnson of the home.

Gary was a retired Commander in the United States Coast Guard and a proud Vietnam War veteran who later served as a Marine Surveyor. He lived an active and adventurous life, enjoying marathon running, avid hiking, and exploring National and State Parks. He also found great pleasure in fishing, tennis, golf, and pickleball. A man of many interests and talents, Gary was an amateur harmonica player and a passionate student of Civil War history.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; sister, Diane Bunge; daughters, Cathy Todaro, Jeni Westhoff, Carolyn Johnson, Elizabeth Colantuoni; grandchildren, Ian, Kayla, Parker, Jackson, Connor, Ryan, Etta and Lina and great grandchildren, Archer and Charlie.
