Gayle Dillard Chandler passed away peacefully at her home in Burlington on May 17, 2026. She was 90 years old.

Born May 6th, 1936, in the state of Idaho to the late Ilda Bernice Dunn Dillard and Ralph Lee Dillard, Gayle married in 1955 and moved to Burlington where she made her home. She has four children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Gayle was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, David A. Chandler, and by her brother, Donald Dean Dillard, of Boise, Idaho. She is survived by her children, Deborah Adavo, David J. Chandler, his wife, Sue, and their two children, Justin and Taylor, and Taylor’s children, Raylan and Olivia, Sandra Chandler Glenn, her husband, Mike, and their two children, Stuart and Paige, and Stuart’s children, Charley and Emma, and David Todd Chandler, his wife, Leah, and his children, Christopher, Conner and Alyse. She is also survived by her trusted friend and heir, Dan W. Riley and his wife, Margaret, of Burlington, NC.

Gayle was a homemaker and enjoyed landscaping, interior decorating, people and nature. She remained in her home on Buckingham Road in Burlington until her passing.

Gayle wanted to express her special thanks to her friends and neighbors on Woodhaven Drive and Buckingham Road for their friendship and support through the years. They helped her for so long and in so many ways. May God bless you all for your kindness and care.

The family will hold a private service for Gayle at a future date to be determined.
