Gene Arnold McBane

     A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Winston Mebane McBane and Elizabeth Foust McBane. 

     Gene worked in manufacturing doing industrial maintenance for many years and then for Home Depot as a hardware specialist.  He enjoyed blacksmithing, building and designing clocks, as well as making walking sticks.  He loved to spend time traveling, cooking and was a former reenactor with the American Mountain Men. 

     Gene is survived by his son; Adam McBane (Nicole Pickard), daughter; Shannon McBane (Tiffany Strickland), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters; Katie Fields and Debra Duggins, brother; Wayne McBane, several nieces and nephews as well as his canine companion; Jan. 

   He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and mother to his children; Marquita Ashburn McBane and his second wife, Lizabeth “Liz” Keaton McBane, granddaughter; Lauren McBane and a brother, David Foust. 

     A funeral to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church with the burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service at the church as well as immediately following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall. 

   The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice for their compassionate care over the last several months in the home and at the hospice home.
