George Alan Jordan

George Alan Jordan, 81, passed away on Monday, 19 January 2026 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

He is preceded in death by many people too numerous to recount here, but thankfully is survived by his wife Sharon and their four children; Kevin (Kimberly) of Graham, NC, Kendra (Clark) of Edisto Island, SC, Krystal (Nathan) of Canton, GA, and Kara (Brian) of Burgaw, NC.

A native of Burgaw, NC, Alan recalled fondly the days of walking to school uphill both ways, buying “nabs” and a Pepsi for a nickel, and hitchhiking to Florida for spring break.

He rarely met a stranger and often recounted stories of people he had met by using the phrases so-and-so, do-dad, what’s his name, and you know who I’m talking about. It was often better to agree (whether you did or not) that you know who he was speaking of or the story would extend well past the original time frame. He loved people and their history and delighted in conversation.

Alan was a connoisseur of good food, and enjoyed cooking at home just as much as dining out with friends. He particularly loved a good shrimp boil and deveining the shrimp so his wife of 58 years, Sharon, could enjoy them as well. Wednesday dinners with the family were his favorite day of the week since he learned more about the family gossip by just listening to the boisterous ramblings of his children and grandchildren.

Sharon vied for his attention with Sheila, his Aussiedoodle and ride-or-die companion. They were fond of trips to his cabin in West Jefferson, the Bill Cooke dog park, and generally riding around Graham together.

He loved old Westerns, old memories, and old sayings, “Pull your own little red wagon” being chief among them.

What he prized most after his wife were his thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild, with whom he sought to have a special connection.

Alan was the founder and owner of Main Street Appraisals in Graham, NC.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Nathan Young with the burial to follow at Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
