Gerri Readling Cook, 82, formerly of Concord, NC went home to be with the Lord Friday October 23, 2009 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after several years of decling health. Mrs. Cook was born January 15, 1927 in Concord, NC to the late Zeb Paul and Beulah Widenhouse Cruse. She was married to her first husband the late Curtis Dale Readling, Sr. and her second husband, the late Charles Kenneth Cook. Gerri was a graduate of Concord High School, a longtime employee of Kerr Bleachery of Concord, and retired from Piedmont Welding Supply of Charlotte. She was also a long time volunteer at the Pink Pinafore of North East Medical Center of Concord. She was formerly a member of St. Martins Lutheran Church before moving to be with her family in Burlington, NC. She was a current and active member of Christian Bible Fellowship of Gibsonville where her son is the pastor. She was active in the Golden Believers Ministry, at the Thursday Bible Study ministry and sang with the Senior Choir of CBF. Survivors include her son, Rev. Bruce Readling and his wife, Tammie of Whitsett; grandchildren, Alisha Latour and her husband, Jonathan of Browns Summit, Joshua Readling and his wife, Tina of Whitsett, and Joseph Readling and his wife Anna of Gibsonville; great grandchildren, Sage Latour, Sydney Latour, and Joseph & Anna's child that is due in November. A funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Christian Bible Fellowship with the Rev. Steve Hinton officiating. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord, NC at 4:00 P.M. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her son, 534 NC Hwy 61 Whitsett, NC. Though she dearly loved flowers, the family is requesting in lieu of flowers, that gifts be made in honor of Gerri Readling Cook to Christian Bible Fellowship, the Joseph and Anna, South African Missionary Fund.
