Gladys Warren Pope

April 9, 1941 — February 17, 2024

Gladys Warren Pope, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Deer Park Health & Rehab. She was daughter of the late Clyde Lee Warren and Nina Lea Byrd Warren.

 

Gladys was employed with Carolina Hosiery for many years and also J. Spencer Love. She loved people and worked for several years at Mr. C’s Carwash. She was a member of Clover Garden United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill. Gladys was an avid fan of the UNC Tarheels and Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed going to the beach and mountains with family and friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working word searches, coloring and flower gardening. Gladys loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

She is survived by her sons, Johnny Lee Pope of Snow Camp and Kevin Pope and wife, Amy of Nebo, North Carolina; grandchildren, Tyler Pope and wife, Kendra, Carmen Long and husband, Josh, Cody Rice and Cayla Rice and her fiancé, Marcus Davenport; great grandchildren, Cohen Long, Nash Long and Shiloh Long and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard Warren, Clyde “June” Warren and Floyd David Warren a and a sister, Brona Minnie Eastwood.

 

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00PM, Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery by Eric G. Rudd. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45pm prior to the graveside in the church fellowship hall.
