Glenn was born in Orange County, June 4, 1934 to Clarence E. Atkins and Nina M. Atkins. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2006. Glenn was married to Libby Smith Atkins for 51 years residing at 505 N. First St. in Mebane during that time. He served two years in the U.S. Army serving most of it in Germany with Libby joining him there for several months. Survivors other than his wife of the home include, two daughters, Debbie A. Jay Minter and Kathy A. David Rogers, both of Snow Camp; two grandsons, Justin and Austin Minter of Snow Camp; two sisters, Colleen A. Kapp of Mebane and Jeanette A. Holmes of Jackson, NC and a brother, Doug Diane Atkins of Mebane. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Cecil Atkins and a sister, Gladys A. Turner. Glenn was a quiet man, loved his family, the outdoors and raising vegetables which he shared with his many friends. He was a member of Mebane United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 95. He retired from Hancor, Inc. in 1999. Glenn requested that there would be a private memorial service at the discretion of his family. In lieu of flowers, Glenn requested that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
