Burlington, NC Harvey Clifford Larson, age 90, of Oakland Drive passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Hospice Home. He was a native of Norway, Michigan and the husband of 33 years to Margaret Newton Larson who survives. Harvey retired from Alcatel Luncent as material planning manager in 1984. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army Air Corp as an Aircraft Warning Officer form 1942 until 1946 in the Philippines and also in the occupation of Japan, stationed in Tokyo. Harvey was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Constellation Masonic Lodge # 974 in Des Plaines, Illinois and the Buena Vista Lodge # 21 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Greensboro. He volunteered each year at the Hospice Flea Market and with AARP as a tax preparer for senior citizens. Harvey and his wife, Margaret were ballroom dancers belonging to Club 75 and the Downtown Dancers. He served as treasurer for both the dance clubs for many years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling especially taking cruises. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Newton Larson of the home, daughter and son-in-law, Jane Frances Ciccone and her husband, Jerry of Southbury, Connecticut; son and daughter-in-law, Norman Henry Larson and his wife, Emily of New Providence, New Jersey; step sons, Ernest Mark Oakley and his wife, Vickie of Matthews and William Jay Oakley of Burlington; grandchildren, Derek Ciccone, Jason Tracy Ciccone, Curt Kristen Ciccone, Kristen Larson and Erik Larson; step grandchildren, Stacy Chris Griffin and Marcus Lizzie Oakley; three great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Roger Larson and his wife, Rica of Norway, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Jane Gustafson Larson; brother, Russell Larson. The family would like to express their appreciation to Reece Haywood, his Stephen Minister for his many visits and acts of kindness. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Front Street United Methodist Church by Rev. Marshall Old and Rev. Ben Alexander. There will be a private burial held at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Friendship Adult Day Service, Inc., 1946 Martin Street, Burlington, NC 27217 or to the donors' favorite charity.
