Harvey Lee Tate, Sr., 75, of 1090 Union Ridge Rd. died Monday, September 25, 2006 at Duke University Medical Center after seven weeks critical illness. He was the husband of Iris Sawyer Tate and son of the late Emmitt "E.B". Boyd and Alvana Madren Tate. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. Harvey retired from Burlington Industries after 28 years of service and was the owner and operator of Southern Caswell Auctioneers. He was a member of the National and North Carolina Auctioneers Associations, having served as President of the State Association. He was a member of Concord Christian Church. Harvey was a member of the Southern Caswell Ruritan Club, serving as President and Zone Governor. Ruritan members will serve as honorary pallbearers. He is survived by his wife, Iris Sawyer Tate of the home; daughter, Karen Tate Gray and her husband Will of Burlington; son, H. Lee Tate Jr. and his wife Joellen of Roxboro; one granddaughter, Jerri C. Tate; sister and brother in law, Pauline and Ervin Stanfield of Burlington. The funeral service will be held Thursday September 28, 2006 at 11:00am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Rick Webster. Burial will follow at Concord Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends this Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm at Lowe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
