Helen Lance Shirley

Helen Eileen Lance Shirley, 81, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Wesley Long Hospital. She was born in Lima, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth Riggle Lance. Helen was married for 44 years to her husband, Larry Shirley who survives.

She was previously employed as a loan counselor in the banking industry. Helen was of the Christian faith and formerly attended an Episcopal church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who truly loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Shirley; daughters, Kelly DeRossett, Mindy Perrine, Tracy Fulk, Teresa Gray (John); grandchildren, Cody Crabtree, Kimberly, Jessie, Darius, Brittany, Samuel, Kristen, Chasity, Fiona, Camille, Layna, Raelan; and her sister, Harriett Emily. She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Jody Crabtree, Steve Kunkleman, her parents, and sisters, Janet, Alice and Shirley.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Reid Dickens.  Helen will be available for viewing from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
