Hilda Wagoner

Burlington, NC Hilda Burke Wagoner, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Chatham County and the wife of the late Herbert C. Wagoner who passed away in 2001. Hilda worked for many years at the former Sellars Department Store and she later retired as a beautician with Allure Beauty Salon. She was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church since 1943 and a member of the choir for 45 years. Hilda was a former Sunday School Teacher, youth worker and member of the Christian Women's Club. Hilda was a devoted Christian lady living out her testimony in every area of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Judy W. Sutton and her husband, Bobby of Yadkinville; grandchildren, Mark and Joel Sutton of Yadkinville, great grandson, Tyler Sutton of Yadkinville; sisters, Ruth Tingley and her husband, Frank of Winston-Salem, Peggy Baldwin of Burlington, Barbara Burke of Gibsonville and Linda Touchton and her husband, Gene of Lexington; sister-in-law, Ann Burke of Graham, and her loving friend and caregiver, Vickie Tressler and many special friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Wagoner; parents, J. Hugh and Florence Foushee Burke; sister, Marie Ward; and her brother, Jack R. Burke. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Glen Hope Baptist Church by Dr. Bobby J. Touchton and Dr. Garry Baldwin and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
