Howard Ward

Durham, NC Howard Gary Ward, age 63 passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at his home. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Howard and Lula Mae Morgan Ward. Gary worked for many years with Leader Mobile Homes as a general sales manager. In his later years he volunteered for the Disabled American Veterans and took an active role in AA as a sponsor and mentor to many he considered family. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he served on a Medevac unit in Vietnam. Gary was awarded the Purple Heart and was a Prisoner of War. He is survived by his nieces, Wendy Ingle Rumley and her husband Mark, Dene' Ingle Rich and her husband Tim; great nephews, Dustin Rumley, TJ and Trent Rich; great nieces, Jessica Rumley and Tess Rich, all of McLeansville; brother-in-law, Jerry Alan Ingle of Whitsett and honorary brother, Barry Oakley of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie Ward Ingle. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 10th at 11:00 am at Historic Providence Christian Church Cemetery in Graham. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
