James Chappell

Burlington, NC James Claiborne Chappell, age 90, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Hospice Home, He was a native of Durham County and the husband of Betty S. Chappell who survives. James retired as a machinist and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a US Army veteran of WW II serving in the European Theatre where he spent 27 months as a POW in Germany. He was a member of the Bula Lodge # 409 A. F. and A. M. Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann Lynch and her husband, Jimmy of Graham; step daughters, Linda Mitchell and Janice Whitesell both of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Allie Holloman Chapell. A cryptside service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel by Rev. Ben Williams.
