James Waldo Harvell, born on September 7, 1944, in Guilford County, departed this life on October 30, 2025. He dedicated an impressive 50 years as a long-haul truck driver, a career that reflected not only his remarkable work ethic but also his commitment to providing for his family and community.
Known for his steadfast character, James was an excellent father and devoted "paw paw." He earned a reputation as a good man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. His skills as a handyman and his role as a mentor to many will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
James is survived by his loving wife, Margie Lamm Harvell; his daughters, Marie Harvell Bowman and husband Tommy, Renee Harvell Cordero and companion David, Shelia Harvell Shumaker, Blanche Bowman Maddox, her husband Stuart, Marie Ferguson, Evalina Castillo and Savannah Aranda (Chayo), He is also survived by his sons, Scotty Harvell and his wife Callie, as well as Steven Harvell and Troy Harvell (Rhonda). A legacy of love and joy continues with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren. James is survived by his sisters; Nancy Worley, Linda Medley, Sylvia Gardner (Harold) brothers; Howard Harvell Sr. (Janice), and George Harvell, he also had many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earlie Lee Harvell; his mother, Blanche Scoggins Harvell; son, James Harvell Jr., and his brothers, Bobby Scoggins, Tommy Scoggins, Billy Scoggins, and Earlie Harvell, Jr.
A gathering for family and friends will be held 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home.
James Waldo Harvell will be deeply missed. His indelible spirit and unwavering kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
