James “Jim” Brenla Vickers, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 6, 2025 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. He was born in Baxter County, TN on October 22, 1934 to the late Silas and Klora Dobbs Vickers and was the husband of 64 years to the late Doraldyne “Boots” Sensabaugh Vickers.
Jim grew up in the hills of Tennessee and would often return for visits with his parents. He was a longtime member of First Baptist of Freeland in Freeland MI and most recently attended The Lamb’s Chapel in Burlington. Jim was employed with General Motors for many years where he would later retire. He was a gifted singer and lead guitarist and enjoyed listening to country western music and binge watching the old western movies. Much of his spare time was spent tinkering with mechanical parts, constructing waterwheels or building wagons for his grandchildren. A great husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his sons, Audie Vickers (Lilea) of Gibsonville, NC, Gary Vickers (Billy Ray) of Elk Grove, CA; daughter, Donna Rote (John) of The Villages, FL; grandchildren, Jacob, Adam, Stephanie, Renae, Ronnie; eleven great grandchildren and brothers, Lonnie, Eddie and Bill Vickers. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; brothers, Ralph, Dav, John Wayne and Bill Vickers and a sister Diane.
